Boys Brigade Centenary Weekend - sign up to attend October 2010

Appointment of Priest in Charge

Our new minister is to be the Revd. David Whitehouse, who is currently Associate Minister at Cheadle Parish Church in the Diocese of Chester. He is married to Gaynor and where they now live in Stockport is near to where they both grew up. For the last 18 years David has been involved in ministry amongst young people, children and families and in 2005 was ordained for that work. Gaynor is a trained secondary school teacher, but in recent years has taken a break to care for Naomi (8), Lydia (5) and Reuben (2). Although Gaynor has family links to Southport, the area is new to them and they are looking forward to discovering the joys of the beach, the occasional golf course, and the church family at St Simons.

72 Roe Lane has now been purchased as our new vicarage and a moving in date is imminent. The licensing date has been set as 5th September.

Please continue to pray for our new minister as final plans are put in place to receive him on 5th September.

St. Simon's Church Family

One family getting to know each other better.
In an effort to help us all get to know one another better, and to be able to pray for each other in a more informed way, we hope to take a photograph of everyone in our church family and to place those photos on view in a prominent place.
Brent Bartley, Steve Rimmer and Steve Hosker have kindly agreed to be our photographers and over the next few months will take the photos.
We hope everyone will be happy to take part in this venture.

Bookstall - Bible notes & Holiday reading

Bible notes are now available for the next few months; don't forget to get yours before going off on holiday! Plenty of books as well, if you need some holiday reading.
If there is a particular book you would like, then do have a word with one of us, we will try and get it for you, (or pop into the shop and speak to Cuan or Laura). Ellen, Linda, Debbie.

Hungry & Homeless

During the summer months there is still much need for donation of food items for the hungry and homeless community in Southport. All food gifts are given to the Southport Soup Kitchen and used to support homeless people.
A purchase of one extra item of a preserved, tinned or dried food product whilst doing your weekly shop will collectively make a great difference to many. Further information from Robert & Linda Stephenson
